Nick Davis (Ph.D. Cornell University) teaches and writes in the areas of film, queer theory, feminist and gender studies, and American literature (including theater & drama). His current book project attempts to theorize a new model of contemporary queer cinema based on formal principles rather than identity politics, drawing heavily on Deleuzian philosophies of film and sexuality. He has recently published articles on John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus, Todd Haynes's Velvet Goldmine, and James Baldwin's Blues for Mister Charlie and written forthcoming essays on Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain and the political activism of Julie Christie and Vanessa Redgrave.
