Eula Biss is the author of The Balloonists (Hanging Loose 2002). She holds a B.A. in nonfiction writing from Hampshire College and a M.F.A. in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa. She is co-founder and co-editor of Essay Press, a new press dedicated to publishing innovative essays in book form. Her writing has been recognized by grants from the Vogelstein Foundation, the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, and the Rona Jaffe Foundation. Her essays have recently appeared in Gulf Coast, Hotel Amerika, Columbia, Ninth Letter, the North American Review, the Massachusetts Review, the Seneca Review, and Harper’s. A collection of her essays is forthcoming from Graywolf Press in 2009.
