Full-year Fellowships

A renewable nine to twelve months of funding
Nomination for consideration is made exclusively by the University, with no need on the student's or department's part to apply. This listing is included solely for informational purposes

Three-year stipend of $20,000 per year. The awards will be made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Expenses paid to attend at least one Conference of Ford Fellows
Access to Ford Fellow Liaisons, a network of former Ford Fellows who have volunteered to provide mentoring and support to current fellows.
Early-November application submission deadline
Only citizens of the United States or native residents of a possession of the United States are eligible. U.S. permanent residents who are citizens of another country will not be considered.

Funding to support one academic year spent in Paris at Northwestern's current Fellowship stipend level
Intended for students whose work shows a strong interest in critical theory
Competence in both written and spoken French is required, and acceptance into the program may be made contingent on registration in an intensive summer language course if the situation demands it
Early March application submission deadline

One to three months funding (depending on the particular fellowship) for research in the collection
Stipend of $1,700/month, or $1,200/per month if you elect to take advantage of the housing they provide
Mid-January application submission deadline

One to three months of funding for research on site, with a stipend of $2,000/month
March 1 application receipt deadline

No required length-of-residency while engaged in research, and a flat $1,500 stipend is provided
Preference given to proposals that concentrate on the Center's collections and that require substantial on-site use of them
Early February application submission deadline

One to five month fellowships; $2,500/month towards research on location at the Huntington Library
Mid-December deadline

One quarter fellowship for use during the Fall, Winter, or Spring; full tuition remission and stipend equivalent to Northwestern University Fellowship
Designed to enable a qualified Northwestern graduate student in English to spend a quarter conducting research at the Newberry Library. In addition to its superb collections, the Newberry will provide the privileges of Fellows, which include a carrel, access during extended hours, and participation in the Fellows seminar.
mid-Winter quarter application deadline - please note that the application requirements for the Lipking Fellowship are different from those for other Newberry Library short-term fellowships
