Grants and Teaching Awards in 2016

Helen Thompson, Wendy Wall, and Kelly Wisecup, have received major University grants and awards in recognition of their teaching and research.

Thompson has been awarded the E. LeRoy Hall Award for Excellence in Teaching, given to the most senior of the three recipients of the Weinberg College Distinguished Teaching Awards.  Excellence as an undergraduate instructor, as well as contributions to curricular innovation and undergraduate life, are all considered when the awardees are chosen.

Wall is one of three professors receiving the 2016-19 Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence Award, which carries with it a three-year term and support for the enhancement of undergraduate eduction.  

Wisecup has received a $25,000 Weinberg College Research Innovation Grant for her project "Archive Chicagoua." The grant will enable Kelly to lead teams of undergraduates and graduate students in creating a digital map and archive of Chicago's Indigenous stories. In this first phase, the project will focus on Indian Boundary Park, Jackson Park, Fort Sheridan, and the American Indian Center.
